Here is our funny Imbolc story. We always leave the Yule Tree up when we hit the road after New Years so that we can come home, take it down, saw it up, burn everything except the main trunk and observe a belated Imbolc. Now, our trunks aren’t big enough for a Maypole, like in ancient times, still we set aside the trunk each year to use for the next year’s Yule log.
Well, we had a New Years eve party, which of course led to spilled champagne. Seth’s mom is coming this month for a visit so I asked the wonderful, blessed soul who helps us stay up with the housework to mop the wood floors with Murphy’s Oil Soap while we were gone.
So I was in touch with her over the road and she told me, “Oh, I went ahead and took your Christmas Tree down for you so I could do a real good job on your floor!” She even had a fella come over and help her cart away the fallen evergreen. What could we say but, “Thanks for your thoughtfulness.”
Our belated Imbolc will be coming tomorrow eve, or so. Looks like we will be burning old holiday cards for The Goddess this year!
Yeah, I guess all you could say was “Thank you.”
But, at least for us, taking down the tree is a very soulful ritual. And we have our own way of packing the ornaments so we know where each on will be next year.
Wah!
But I’m sure Brigit was happy with the cards and loving energy.
